Fernanda (Fefa) D'Angelo is a visual artist from São Paulo, who uses color concepts for the realization of her artworks, trying to translate color as a sensation of light and shadow. She uses color not as a fill, but in the dry line of the pencil. The contour is also the manifestation of color. The pencil is a souvenir blessed souvenir, from the church of Kaiser Wilhelm, in Berlin, Germany. The church was destroyed after a fire caused by an air raid during World War II, on the night of November 23, 1943. The church's pencils bear the message “Gott malt mit Bunten Farben”, which means in Portuguese: “God paints with bright colors”, free translation. The artist uses the pencil to paint with bright, saturated and mixed colors.
Her work has been praised by the artists Nelson Leirner, Max Papeschi, by Tarsila do Amaral (niece) and others.
Her interest is in empirically studying how much each pigment is able to bounce or absorb light and the link between light and color as distinct manifestations of the image. The technique takes place in color matching both in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) and RGB (Red, Green and Blue) pigments, therefore, through her drawings, she experiences the physical, sensory and biological properties of color in contact with the human eye and brain.
Her line is minimalist and precise. The artist uses Multicolorics color pencils, with four colors in graphite (blue, green, yellow and red) as an instrument. Her pictorial inspirations come from the contemporary everyday universe or/and surrealist mental images. The cheerful colors that are inspired by the Brazilian carnival also portray scenes of violence and sadness. The cheerful colors are present in chaotic and confused lines, causing a slight discomfort or feeling of incongruity between line and color. Often, the artist uses expressive doodles of violent gestures after completing the drawing, to emphasize the discomfort and energy she wants to transmit.
The experience as an artist starts from photography and transmutes to the plasticity of color. The artist never uses black, but colors that in contrast, produce the sensation of black. In addition to the color sensation, she seeks through pigments to provide the sensation of light and shadow, without changing the hue.
In her artistic process, she seeks to transform the sensation of color from photography, to a sensation of equivalent color in drawing.

Peter Handke's poem reflects the childhood feeling that I pursue in my art. Is the great discovery of life in nostalgic colors of who knows is no longer a child, but the memories stand still. I choose to revisit old actions, old choices, old supports, old dreams. Draw with colored pencils as an adult is an action of who has never forgotten the fun and sadness of childhood.
